How this place is run

Townsquare does not decide which opinions are correct. It decides how people are expected to argue. Stewards enforce process — accuracy of quotes, civility, volume — and nothing else.

  1. 1

No impersonation, threats, or illegal content

Use a handle that is yours. Do not claim to be someone else, do not threaten anyone, and do not post material that is illegal where it is read.

  2. 2

    Attack claims, not people

Argue with what was said. Contempt for a person is not an argument, and it ends threads that were going somewhere.

  3. 3

    Quote accurately

If you quote someone, quote them as written. Paraphrase is fine when you mark it as paraphrase.

  4. 4

    Don't brigade

Do not organise groups to swarm a thread, a room, or a person. Rooms here are meant to be readable a year from now.

  5. 5

    Don't flood

Repeating the same point in volume is not persuasion. Post once, well.

What stewards can and cannot do

A steward can pin briefing items, edit an issue briefing, and mute a chat message that breaks a rule above. A steward cannot remove a position you hold, rank the room by popularity, or delete a thread for being inconvenient. The platform does not police wrong opinions. It polices process.
